Citrus nobilis
Tangerine
Rutaceae

The Tangerine tree is original from China and Southern Vietnam and was brought to the Mediterranean area in 1828
Its flowers are tiny, white and highly scented. The essential Tangerine oil is obtained from its rind. The “late of Ciaculli” is a gem mutation of common Tangerine or “Avana” found in the homonymous area near Palermo, in Sicily. It has the same features as the common Tangerine, from which it differs for the smaller fruit and late ripening, between February and April.
Like all citrus trees, it resists cold, blooms in Spring and its fruits attain full ripeness in the following winter, It is most interesting also for its ornamental quality.
