This is an ancient variety cultivated in Milis, a small town in Sardinia still famous for its cistrus trees gardens planted in the Middle Ages by the Camaldolese monks. The fruits of the Orange tree is called Hesperidium, an evident connection with the myth of the "Hesperides garden" the magic garden of golden fruits symbolizing love and fertility, created by Goddess Earth as a wedding present to Zeus and Era.
