'Malaysian Monarch'
Breeder:Bill Munson,1986
An architect and an enthusiastic daylilies breeder , in partnership with his mother Ida and his sister Betty Hudson, Bill Munson forged Wimberlyway Gardens into one of the world's foremost hybridising laboratories. He won more awards than any hybridizer in history, among them the Helen Fisher Gold Medal for meritorious service to the American Hemerocallis Society.
Munson was a primary force in the early development of tetraploids.
'Malaysian Monarch' was the first notable watermarked daylily, having a wide strip of a lighter shade of a chalky appearance. It was created using the historic variety of H. 'Catherine Woodbury'
