Hemerocallis 'Strawberry Candy'
Breeder:Patrick Stamile,1989

Patrick Stamile has worked on medium-to large flowers including his famous Candy Series - many of which fall into the small flowered category.
'Strawberry Candy' is one of the best known of the Candy series which are all instantly recognizable due to their similar charateristics such as their roundness and distintive bold eyes. The flower is perfecly round , 4.25'' in diameter , tightly ruffled, bright strawberry pink and a rose-red eye with partial red picotee edge inherited from Munson's 'Panache' .
This very charming variety 26'' high ,won the Annie T. Giles Award , for the best small-flowered daylily, in 1994; Don C. Stevens Award, for the best bold-eyed or banded daylily, in 1995; the Award of Merit in 1966 and the highest honor bestowed upon a cultivar, the Stout Silver Medal, in 1999.
