Carissa macrocarpa
Apocynaceae
Original from Old World Tropics and Subtropics, the name of this plant is probably based on a native indian name . An evergreen closely branched shrub that can reache up to 9 metre, very well armed with thorns and with white intensely jasmine-like scented flowers. It is a very decorative plant, it has a long blooming in summer and towards the end flowers appear together with the very decorative ripened fruit, a berry as big as a Plum which changes its brilliant green colour into orange and red at full maturity.
